Final Countdown

It’s coming down to the wire. You have 1 week to finish up your prototype and write up your pitch document. Everything (final prototype, pitch document, 3 minute pitch) is due by 2:30 on May 5th so please use this post to leave your links up.

A couple of notes: I like the idea that was brought up in class of creating a library of code and games for future classes to use as reference. If you would like to donate some of your work to be included in this library please include a zip file with whatever you would like to add to this.

You can alternatively bring me a file in a flash drive or on a CD that I could keep (that would be awesome!) whatever works best for you.

Like I promised before, here is one example of what a pitch document should look like. This is my pitch document that I wrote up for my game State which was a project accepted into the Game Lab class in Spring of 2010.

I am trying to get some more examples from Monica so I will add more when I get the opportunity.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask them!

zerowave = revised version for final submission.
Absolute Zero = exhibition version where the players cannot (or should not at least) die.

be sure to export to folder so music works.

    The 7th

This is a revision of mt “7 Deadly Sins” prototype. The zip includes several sound effects and music tracks for each level so it’s a bit large.

My revamped Ruins of Doom game. 1 or 2 players is fine
I simplified the controls so it is easier to play by yourself than the old controls. The 3 stages are a mix of difficulties just for testers to experience, although it’d be really easy for me to raise or lower the difficulty (adding new/more enemies, booby-traps to raise difficulty or lowering damage-taken and scattering healing items to lower difficulty.)

    Has music.

Revised Bomb Platformer, or Not your art.

  8. Philip Johnston says:

Here it is guys, the newly revamped Fatiana Jones!

You’re lost again in the ruins of another pissed off civilization, and as the time passes, you grow…Hungry. Run, Jump and eat your way out of the never ending tunnels!

    Music credit goes to DruoxtheShredder

I completely re-worked the whole game, converting it from game maker to construct to try and get procedural generation to work. It does, but only barely. I had to drop most of the platform varieties simply because of the way my if else statements were working, but hey its still random. Enemy and boulder generation is also randomized, but every once in a while you’ll get similar maps. I’m currently working on a “Hard Mode” that bumps up the run speeds while still being playable.

In addition to the game, here is my pitch for Fatiana Jones:

  9. James Hidahl says:

I started pretty late, so I didn’t get as much as I wanted to do, but I may want to still work on it after school’s over. The game will likely turn out too easy, but I’m not that good at designing difficult games.
